The Subtle Mind

1) Ok, this time I used the cd for the meditation. I felt the cd's guided meditation exercise for the Subtle Mind was better than the Loving Kindness exercise. I really got alot out of the Loving Kindness meditation and its meaning was very clear to me. I'm not real sure what to make of my experience from this meditation. I saw many things but not sure what they mean. I journaled what I saw and feel I will definitely revisit this exercise again because my curiousity has me wondering about the meaning of many of the things I encountered. There were few times during this exercise that I was startled by the narrators voice.

2) I can only share with you how I interpret the spiritual to mental and physical connection. When I am feeling down or blue on the outside (mentally or physically), I have learned that the only way to truly feel better (other than a temporary fix) is to meditate or connect with nature. It starts from the inside (the spiritual). I am reminded that I am a part of something much larger than my physical self. I am able access resources that give me strength and understanding and the ability to forge ahead. These experiences allow me to realize that I am where I am supposed to be.

  1. Wow what a great blog and experience. It is so wild to hear what other people see and feel during these exercises. We do a couple things similar to these in our eastern philosophy classes and to talk to the students the first couple of times is so interesting. Good luck with the rest of the exercises. You are right we are part of much more than our physical self

  2. This class and my HW410 class have helped me be in tune with my triggers for stress. when I listened to this one I some how ended up back at the farm with my brother Jamie stacking hay bales. He still lives there even though both of our parents are gone. My brother's name is James...who would have thunk (smile)

  3. Hi Susan,
I KNOW! I was startled by the narrator a few times too! I think I got so relaxed, then WHAM!...some ladies talking again. lol! I found this one much easier too. I think the deep breaths help me center and relax. I think it's a great idea that you journaled after your session. The next time you try it and something pops up, think about it for a little bit then slowly send it away and refocus your attention on your breathing and nothing else. If something else pops in, do the same and keep focusing on your breathing. You'll soon get the hang of it, and relaxation is yours! :) Good luck!

  4. I couldn't agree with you more. I liked this exercise much more than the previous. Journaling sounds like a great idea. This would be a great tool to see how far you have grown. I like how you comment on being a part of something more than just yourself. This is so true and I wish more people would understand and accept this concept. Thanks for sharing!
